New Jersey Farmers, Markets, & Growers Coalition

About

New Jersey’s first statewide coalition of farmers, markets, and growers seeks to bring together local growers and agricultural stakeholders to leverage partnerships and resources. This coalition will support networking among producers and facilitate connections to markets and funding opportunities across the state to support local growers, and increase access to fresh, healthy food across the Garden State.

Who Are We?

The NJ YMCA State Alliance (NJYSA) and City Green are partnering to establish the state’s only statewide authority of farmers, markets, and growers.

The NJ YMCA State Alliance’s mission is to collaborate and work together on areas of mutual benefit to strengthen and enhance our individual YMCAs and the collective strength of NJ YMCA’s to better serve the people of New Jersey. City Green is a 501(c)3 urban farming and gardening organization, based in Clifton, New Jersey working to revitalize urban areas through agriculture and educational programming. City Green offers practical, technical, and financial resources in support of environmental stewardship and equitable access to healthy food, including the “Garden State Good Food Network,” New Jersey’s only statewide SNAP-doubling incentive program for farmers markets. How to Get Involved

City Green & NJYSA are sending out need assessment surveys to NJ farmers, growers, and markets with the hopes of convening 1st coalition planning meetings in early 2021. If you/your organization would like to participate, please submit your contact info here

Join Our Team

The New Jersey YMCA State Alliance (NJYSA) is seeking a Program Specialist VISTA with strong human relations, computer literacy, and program development skills to assist the Director, Health Equity & State Initiatives and Senior State Program Coordinator in data collection, program management, and fund development activities related to establishing a statewide farmers, markets, and growers coalition. As a member of the NJ Alliance team, the position strengthens the YMCA’s impact by advancing local community and statewide resource coordination and environment change; increasing access to healthy foods and addressing the social determinants of health to create healthy, equitable communities where people live, learn, work, and play.
