Buddy Evans is a seasoned YMCA veteran with 30 years of experience in the Y movement. For the past six years, Buddy has been the President and CEO of the YMCA of Montclair in New Jersey. He is a cause-driven servant leader dedicated to developing thriving teams and producing positive bottom-line results.

Buddy’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Y led to establishing a 7-member committee dedicated to operationalizing equity within the Y, placing the organization as a convener and unifier around social justice issues in the community.

Prior to joining the YMCA of Montclair, Buddy held executive positions with the YMCA of South Florida, the YMCA of Central Florida, and the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. He has led large capital campaigns, developed key partnerships with major organizations, and created ongoing wellness partnerships with corporations.

Buddy received his Bachelor of Science in quantitative economics from the University of Rhode Island and his Master of Science in sport and recreation management from the United States Sports Academy in Alabama. He serves as the President of the Montclair Rotary Club, is the immediate past Chair for the NJ YMCA State Alliance Board and is a retired United States Coast Guard Reservist. He is an enthusiastic Philadelphia sports fan, enjoys outdoor activities, and loves spending time with his family. With his wife Eileen, Buddy has two children, Brianna, and Ryan, as well as three English bulldogs.
