MEWSA Welcomes New CEO, Laura Muñoz Humphreys - December 2025 Newsletter

We are excited to share that Laura Muñoz Humphreys has officially stepped into her role as President and CEO of the YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge, and South Amboy (MEWSA) as of October 2025. Laura brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience in youth development, nonprofit innovation, and community impact, along with a deep, lifelong connection to the YMCA movement.
Laura’s journey with the Y began as a teen in Youth & Government, sparking her dedication to equity, service, and access for all. Her career has since spanned senior leadership roles across the global YMCA network, continually guided by a strong family legacy of community support and opportunity.
Before joining MEWSA, Laura served as Regional Executive Director at the YMCA of San Diego County, where she led the organization’s largest youth and family services portfolio. She also advanced system-wide initiatives focused on the Social Determinants of Health and strengthened international collaboration through a cross-border partnership with YMCA-Mexico. Outside of her YMCA leadership, Laura is an active civic contributor, serving on multiple boards and receiving recognition for her work throughout the San Diego region.
Now at MEWSA, Laura is eager to partner with staff, volunteers, and community members to build on the Y’s strong foundation and advance its strategic priorities. Her arrival follows the impactful tenure of Rose Cushing, and we are thrilled to see Laura guiding the organization into its next chapter.
Please join us in congratulating Laura Muñoz Humphreys and welcoming her to our community.
