On the Road to Nutrition: SNAP-Ed Veggie Van Training - October 2025 Newsletter

This August, in partnership with the Virtua Eat Well Team, NJYSA conducted a Veggie Van Training and Mobile Grocery Unit Tour for New Jersey SNAP-Ed educators. This interactive experience demonstrated how the Veggie Van mobile market model can help create healthier, more equitable food environments and increase access to fresh, affordable produce in lower-income communities.

Participants toured Virtua’s Mobile Grocery Unit and examined strategies to improve food access through local collaboration, targeted outreach, and active community engagement. The training highlighted the Veggie Van intervention as a policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) change, providing attendees with practical tools to form partnerships, deliver nutrition education, and boost community confidence in finding, purchasing, and preparing healthy foods. These efforts collectively support the development of healthier environments where people live, work, learn, and play.
