Congratulations to Heather Doerr on earning her certification as an Adult Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA) instructor. This nationally recognized program equips adults with the skills to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in youth. As an instructor, Heather is now certified to train others in supporting individuals through both crisis and non-crisis situations, helping to expand mental health awareness and resilience across our communities.
Adult Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach community members how to help adults who are experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge or are in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges faced by adults and teaches a 5-step action plan for helping adults in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
