Marketing and Communications Volunteer / Intern

The New Jersey YMCA State Alliance is seeking a volunteer for its Marketing and Communications Department.   This volunteer position provides valuable experience for a recent college graduate or current college student.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in managing the Y’s efforts across several social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, among others
  • Contribute copy that is consistent and an accurate reflection of the Y’s brand for a variety of marketing materials, including website, press releases, promotional materials and advertisements
  • Support the production of promotional videos, photographs, Y stories and content into the Y’s communication vehicles
  • Plan and implement relevant and timely social media tactics, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube posts; create performance reports; offer counsel on how to acquire new fans, followers and influencers
  • Assist in carrying out marketing campaigns or other marketing-related projects, as needed
  • Attend Y events to capture stories, photos, video, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree program in Business, Marketing, Communications or similar field
  • Excellent computer software skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office

Membership / Program Volunteer / Intern

The New Jersey YMCA State Alliance is seeking a volunteer/ intern to support new initiatives.   This volunteer position provides valuable experience for a recent college graduate or current college student.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in supporting the development of worksite wellness programs in conjunction with the statewide membership / health & wellness networks.
  • Develop copy including posts and blogs relate to worksite wellness across social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, among others
  • Research worksite wellness trends in both the for profit and not for profit sectors
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials and powerpoint presentations for worksite wellness
  • Support the production of promotional videos, photographs, Y stories and content into the Y’s communication vehicles related to worksite wellness
  • Identify potential worksite wellness partners

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree program in Public Health, Business, Marketing, Communications or similar field

State Program Manager

GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the supervision of the State Program Director, the Program Manager responsibilities are to assist the SPD with day-to-day operations of the State Program Office which includes the management of several statewide initiatives. The position is responsible for meeting projects/programs timeline, deliverables, and goals including communications with funders, stakeholders, partners, grantees and other staff. 

As assigned, the program manager will lead or assist in the planning, designing, implementation and the evaluation of projects/programs for existing or new opportunities related to community health, public-private partnerships, public policy, coalitions and/or collective impacts. Spend significant time cultivating relationships and are able to travel up to 30%-40%. Present oral and written reports and/or slide presentations and take part on local/state task forces or committees. Participate in professional activities and training to develop or maintain knowledge in the areas of healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development. This shall be done in accordance with the mission and vision of the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance and the State Program Office. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Supports the SPD and Strategic Advisor in statewide activities and initiatives in cooperation with RWJF Program Officer and other funders. Works with SPD to ensure day-to-day operations of the State Program Office are conducted in an efficient and effective manner.
  2. Works with the State Program Office consultants (strategic planning, healthy communities, communication/social media and advocacy/public policy) to develop work plans and strategies for collaborative discussion and decision making.
  3. Ensures that project/program administration, status, issues, and outputs are communicated to SPD, funders, sponsors, stakeholders, committee members and staff and documented appropriately.
  4. Establishes and maintains relationships with key funders, sponsors, stakeholders, partners staff and media.
  5. Provides input on the planning, designing, implementation and the evaluation of projects/programs for existing or new opportunities.
  6. Build relationships within public-private partnerships, collaborations and collective impacts to ensure up-to-date information sharing and further idea development and continuous learning.
  7. Attends and contributes to all events including conferences, symposiums, sponsored dinners and professional development opportunities.
  8. Accepts such other assignments as may be periodically assigned to advance the mission and goals of the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance and the State Program Office.

EFFECT ON END RESULT

This position has a primary impact on the performance of the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance and the State Program Office in accomplishing the goals of the New Jersey Partnership for Healthy Kids.  Successful performance will be evidenced in the following:

  • Meet the expectations and goals of the New Jersey Partnership for Healthy Kids and other projects/programs.
